A work by Deto Zou (a second-year student in the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies), a member of Professor Keiji Takeda's lab, and Sogen Handa (a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Policy Management), a member of the lab of Associate Professor Shinya Fujii of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, has been selected for the young student creator development program of the "Tokyo Night & Light" projection mapping project. The screening of their work has now begun on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
To revitalize nighttime tourism and create a new tourist attraction to light up Tokyo's nights, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is holding a year-round projection mapping display. This event uses the iconic Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1 as a canvas to express diverse art through light and sound.
As part of "Tokyo Night & Light," six pieces were selected as "student-created works," produced by students who represent the next generation of video creators. Among them, the work "Hz" by Zou and Handa was chosen.
◆Screening Time: Weekdays from 9:00 p.m. (May 7 (Wed) – June 1 (Sun))
For the schedule thereafter, please check the "Tokyo Night & Light" website .

STUDIO24 (Sogen Handa, Deto Zou)
The city resonates. Light distorts. Waves interfere. In this world where everything vibrates and is transformed by observation, only a certain rhythm is etched onto its unstable structure. Is what we see the light from the projector, or a phantom image it creates? Based on actual data from the city, this work depicts a journey exploring waves, the rhythm of Tokyo, and a praise for the culture that has been woven in this place.
Comment from Deto Zou
I am very grateful to have been given this precious opportunity.
For this project, I collaborated with Sogen Handa, a senior student whom I have respected since enrolling, and we produced the work as the two-person creative unit "STUDIO24."
I feel honored to have had the chance to create our work in such a beautiful setting, where we can appeal to the hearts of daily passersby and travelers spending their precious time, and deliver excitement and emotion.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to Professor Takeda and the members of the lab for their daily support.
