Haowen Li (a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies at the time of the award), Rina Onishi (a first-year master's student in the Graduate School of Media and Governance), and Associate Professor Hideyuki Kawashima, all affiliated with the Kawashima Laboratory at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, received the "Best Poster Award" at The IEEE International Conference on Cluster Computing (CLUSTER'24).

IEEE CLUSTER is a major international conference on supercomputing hosted by the IEEE Technical Community on Scalable Computing (TCSC). This year, marking its 25th anniversary, the conference was held at the Kobe International Conference Center, near the supercomputer "Fugaku," where numerous paper presentations and 31 poster presentations were accepted.

Comment from Haowen Li

I am extremely honored to receive such an award. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the second author, my senior colleague Ms. Onishi from our laboratory, and my academic advisor, Professor Kawashima, for their involvement in this research. In this poster presentation, we proposed a method to accelerate deterministic concurrency control protocols. I will not rest on my laurels and will continue to strive for further research achievements.

Comment from Rina Onishi

I am truly honored to have received the Best Poster Award at Cluster 2024. I am grateful for the outstanding efforts of the first author, Tony, which led to this award. As the second author, I am happy to have been able to support him and contribute to this wonderful achievement. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to my academic advisor, Professor Kawashima, as well as Mr. Hoshino, who gave me a lot of advice on implementation during my undergraduate years, and everyone else involved in this research. Encouraged by this award, I will continue to dedicate myself to my research to achieve even greater results.

Comment from Associate Professor Hideyuki Kawashima

I am delighted that our proposed method for transactions, based on the knowledge we have accumulated, has been accepted in the field of supercomputing. Transactions play a crucial role not only in databases but also in distributed file systems, AI, and blockchain. Together with my students, I intend to produce impactful results and improve social infrastructure.
