Fumiaki Mizuno, a first-year student in the Ph.D. program at the Graduate School of Media and Governance and a member of Professor Keisuke Uehara's laboratory at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, has received the 19th IEICE Communications Society Best Paper Award.

The IEICE Communications Society Best Paper Award is presented annually to a few outstanding papers selected from all those published in the society's Japanese and English journals. The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) is Japan's largest academic society in the field of telecommunications. The papers underwent a re-review process over a three-month period starting last October, and the selection is made through a very rigorous process.

He was presented with the award by Professor Masaharu Kasahara, President of the Communications Society, at the award ceremony held at Kikai Shinko Kaikan Hall on Friday, May 17.

Comment from Fumiaki Mizuno

I am greatly honored to receive such a prestigious award. This research addressed a topic I was originally interested in: how to reduce the latency of video transmission systems used in drones. I believe that being able to work on what interests me is one of the advantages of SFC. I would like to express my gratitude to the many professors who advised me on my research and implementation, including Professor Nakamura, Professor Mitsuji, Professor Uehara, and Professor Matsutani.
