A paper titled "Independent Contractors: A Third Framework to Prevent Them from Falling Through the Legal Safety Net," co-authored by Koni Sato (4th-year student, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies), a member of Professor Yuichiro Shimizu's seminar, won the Grand Prize at the Student Paper Contest 2022.

The Student Paper Contest 2022—For a Better Future Society—solicited papers from graduate, undergraduate, and technical college students, aiming to propose solutions to social issues based on unconventional ideas that leverage the sensibilities of young people.

This year's contest was held under the theme "Solving Issues to Realize a Sustainable Society, Including Environmental Problems," and the paper by Sato and her co-author was awarded the Grand Prize based on four judging criteria: originality, logicality, contribution, and verification.

Comment from Koni Sato

I have won awards several times before, but this is the first time I have received the Grand Prize, so I am extremely happy. I owe this achievement to the support of my seminar, especially Professor Yuichiro Shimizu for his daily guidance, and also to Dr. Junya Hoshida (former Associate Professor at the Faculty of Policy Management), who kindly interviewed me and reviewed my work even though I am not a member of his lab. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude.
