This research has been selected for the highly prestigious Society Award (Technology Award), following last year's Grand Prize win in the Art Contest at the Visualization Symposium. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my co-developer, Dr. So Nakagawa (School of Medicine, Tokai University), my supervisor, Professor Wakita, and everyone at NHK who utilized the results of this research in news programs and science exhibitions. In this study, by visualizing global open data on viruses used for genomic surveillance based on location information, we were able to present the complex diffusion trends of variant strains in an easy-to-understand manner for the general public. The project was recognized for its timely application in explanatory CG for television programs and science exhibitions. I will continue to engage in research on information visualization that connects scientific research and society. (CG credit: ©NHK)
