Daiya Yuzuyama (a first-year student in the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies at the time of the award), a member of Professor Satoru Tezuka's laboratory at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, was selected as an Outstanding Graduate of SecHack365, a long-term hackathon program hosted by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT).

SecHack365 is a 365-day long-term hackathon for individuals aged 25 and under, held with the aim of fostering human resources capable of conducting innovative research and development at a high level while providing opportunities for creation. Participants receive guidance from a team of trainers, who are specialists active in various fields, and work on their projects. They engage in friendly competition and collaboration by sharing their work with other members, ultimately creating projects they could not have developed alone.

Outstanding Graduates are evaluated based on three criteria: idea, technology, and expression. The individuals who developed the six most outstanding projects among all submissions are selected for this honor.

Yuzuyama developed a "software router," which performs network processing on a general-purpose computer, from the operating system level. He was chosen as an Outstanding Graduate in recognition of his technical skills.

In addition to the Tezuka Laboratory, Yuzuyama is also a member of the Murai, Nakamura, Kusumoto, Takashio, Van Meter, Uehara, Miyoshi, Nakazawa, Tezuka, Takeda, and Okoshi Joint Research Project (SFC-RG), where he conducts his research activities.

I am very honored to have been selected as an Outstanding Graduate of SecHack365. Over the past year, I have been developing my project, a software router, with the cooperation of people from the university and other institutions. Discussions within my research group about network and router design and security have been a valuable reference for development. I was also able to borrow a global IP address and a server room from the university to conduct real-world operational experiments with the router. This project was only possible because of this wonderful environment, and I am very grateful to everyone in my research group who supported me. I will continue to engage in various activities to ensure that this wonderful environment is preserved for the future. I hope to apply the knowledge of software development and operating systems I gained through SecHack365 to my future research activities.
