SFC Open Research Forum (ORF) 2020 was held online from Monday, March 1, 2021, to Friday, March 12, 2021.
ORF is usually held in November with the aim of returning the results (seeds) of advanced research at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) to society and further developing industry-academia-government collaboration. However, in fiscal year 2020, it was held online due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year marked the 25th ORF, held under the theme of "Super Fusion." In addition to exhibitions, sessions, and pitches, the final day, March 12, featured a livestream of "SFC Open Research Forum 'OPEN EXPERIMENTS'," a series of eight "experimental dialogues" exploring new scholarship in the age of "deepfakes."
In the online exhibition, projects by 52 exhibiting organizations were introduced. In the online pitches, five organizations presented and promoted their research in various ways. Additionally, nine sessions held by laboratories sparked heated discussions.
In "OPEN EXPERIMENTS," taking advantage of the online format, public experiments such as surveys using social media were conducted, enabling interactive dialogue.
