The Faculty of Policy Management and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies (SFC) celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2020.
Looking ahead to the next 30 years, we began accepting submissions for a logo design to be used at various occasions, including 30th-anniversary events, from October 28, 2020. We received 51 entries from 42 individuals.
After a rigorous selection process, the Grand Prize winner was selected as follows.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the many submissions we received from current students, alumni, and faculty and staff members from across the entire university.
■ Grand Prize
Masaya Ishikawa (Graduated from the Faculty of Policy Management in 2003, completed a master's degree at the Graduate School of Media and Governance in 2005)
Graphic designer, filmmaker, and researcher of visual expression
After working in Professor Masahiko Sato's laboratory at Keio University, he was a member of EUPHRATES from 2006 to 2019.
Established the design studio "cog" in 2020.
Part-time lecturer at Musashino Art University's Department of Scenography, Display and Fashion Design since 2019.
Comment from the Creator
When I saw the competition theme, "a 30th-anniversary logo looking ahead to the next 30 years," the first thing I thought was that a static graphic might become just a "one-time commemorative logo." To express the idea of "right now," no matter when, where, or for what purpose it is used over the next 30 years, I used arrows as a way to incorporate movement into the graphic. I hope this will be of some help to everyone who will be shaping the next 30 years of SFC.
As I arranged the small arrows around the logo, I was reminded of the people of SFC whom I continue to meet, both during my time as a student and after graduation. They seem to be heading in the same direction, yet also in completely different ones, but they all share a common positivity.

Comment from the Head of the Selection Committee
We received 51 submissions for the SFC 30th Anniversary Logo. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a proposal. After a rigorous review by the deans of the three faculties and the deans of the two graduate schools, one design was selected. SFC has held logo competitions in the past for its 20th and 25th anniversaries, but the 30th-anniversary competition was distinguished by the high caliber of entries, with many submissions from professional designers. We intend to make effective use of this logo in various places as a vessel for everyone's aspirations. Once again, we would like to express our gratitude to all who applied. Thank you very much.
