The SFC Open Research Forum (ORF) 2019 was held at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi for two days on Friday, November 22, and Saturday (national holiday), November 23.
ORF is held annually in November with the aim of giving back to society the outcomes (seeds) of advanced research from the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) and further developing industry-academia-government collaboration.
The theme for 2019 was "Society after the SDGs," and the event featured exhibitions, pitches, sessions, and more.
This year, marking the 24th ORF, continued the tradition from last year by featuring a "Pitch" stage in addition to exhibitions and sessions, providing a venue for researchers to deliver compelling speeches about their work.
At the exhibition booths, 152 projects by 72 exhibiting organizations were introduced, sparking a lively and broad exchange of knowledge.
At the Pitch venue, 30 groups presented and promoted their research in various ways on a unique stage. Some presentations were given in a live performance format, generating great excitement.
Additionally, at the session venues, 28 sessions were held, including sponsor sessions by corporate partners and sessions by research laboratories. Opinion leaders from various fields, such as the business world and government, were invited, leading to heated discussions and lively networking times.
