Partnership and Cooperation Agreement Concluded with Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc.

On Friday, June 21, a signing ceremony for a partnership and cooperation agreement between Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) and Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc., as well as a kickoff meeting, were held at Mita Campus.

This agreement was concluded based on the shared understanding that SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), the international goals for 2016 to 2030 adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment are essential for the development of a sustainable society.

The event was moderated by Shinya Sakuma, a Project Professor at the Graduate School of Media and Governance. The partnership agreement was signed by Jun Murai, Dean of the Graduate School of Media and Governance; Hiroya Tanaka, Executive Director, Keio Research Institute at SFC; and Lee Waite, President and CEO of Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc.

Following this, a kickoff meeting for the Keio Research Institute at SFC xSDG Laboratory was held in a panel discussion format.

The kickoff meeting featured the following speakers: Tatsuo Tanaka, Chairman of the Board of Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc.; Koji Omachi, Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets Origination at Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc.; and from Keio University, Dean Murai of the Graduate School of Media and Governance, and Norichika Kanie, a professor at the Graduate School of Media and Governance and Head of the xSDG Laboratory. They discussed advancing SDGs in the financial sector toward social implementation through collaboration with the globally expanding Citigroup.
