The Research Power-Up Program is a research support system that allows researchers who are in the process of childbirth and child-rearing to hire temporary staff for a certain period to continue their research with as little disruption as possible. If you wish to receive support from this program, please review the following guidelines and apply.

◆ Eligibility

Full-time researchers (fixed-term or tenured, regardless of gender*) affiliated with the Faculty of Policy Management, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, Graduate School of Media and Governance, or Graduate School of Health Management, who work at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) or Tsuruoka Town Campus of Keio (TTCK) (Shinanomachi Campus is also acceptable for those affiliated with the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care), and who are pregnant at the time of application or are raising a child in the third grade of elementary school or younger.

*However, researchers appointed for the sole purpose of engaging in an externally funded project and whose appointment is funded by that project are not eligible.

◆ Support Details

This program subsidizes the personnel costs of temporary staff for a certain period when assistance is needed due to time constraints (e.g., picking up children from daycare) or health constraints caused by childbirth and child-rearing.

(1) Maximum monthly amount: 28,000 yen (including transportation expenses. The hourly wage for general staff and graduate students is 1,050 yen.)

(2) Support period: From April 1, 2019, to a maximum of March 31, 2020, after the selection is finalized (excluding periods of leave for maternity, childcare, etc.).

*

The duties of the temporary staff are limited to support tasks necessary for the research activities of the researcher using this program.

*

The program budget cannot be used to cover the personnel costs of researchers who conduct research independently, to have staff perform tasks that are clearly not considered support, or to cover the personnel costs of temporary staff hired to work on a specific research project.

*

Payments for improving the environment of the laboratory where the temporary staff works are not permitted.

* As the purpose of this program is to power up research, it cannot be used to support educational duties.

*

The support does not cover periods of study abroad or special research periods (sabbaticals).

◆ Application Method: Applicants should apply from the URL below.

* Personal information submitted when applying for this program will be used only for the selection process of the program.

* At the time of application, documents proving that you are raising a child or are pregnant, such as a copy of your certificate of residence or Maternal and Child Health Handbook, are also required.
