SFC Open Research Forum (ORF) 2018 was held for two days on Thursday, November 22 and Friday (national holiday), November 23 at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi.
ORF is held annually in November with the aim of giving back the results (seeds) of advanced research at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) to society and further developing industry-academia-government collaboration.
In 2018, under the theme of "The Next (Next) Society," exhibitions, Pitches, sessions, and other events were held.
This year, marking its 23rd iteration, in addition to the conventional exhibitions and sessions, a "Pitch" stage was newly established as a venue for researchers to compellingly present their work.
At the exhibition booths, approximately 110 projects by 64 exhibiting organizations were introduced, and a lively and wide-ranging exchange of knowledge unfolded.
At the Pitch venue, on two unique stages, 50 speakers and SFC alumni (OB/OG) gave even more distinctive presentations.
Additionally, at the session venues, opinion leaders from various fields, including the business world and government, were invited, and about 30 sessions were held, including sponsor sessions by corporate partners and sessions by research laboratories. Heated discussions unfolded, and the social gatherings were also a great success.
