Registration is now open for the FutureLearn course "Understanding Quantum Computers," taught by Associate Professor Rodney Van Meter of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies.
FutureLearn is an online education provider launched in 2013 by the Open University, which has a proven track record in distance education in the UK, in partnership with 23 top universities, the British Council, the British Museum, and the British Library.
Aimed at high school students and those considering entering the field of quantum computing, the course provides an easy-to-understand explanation of what quantum computers are, how they can be useful in our daily lives, and the efforts toward their practical application.
When it was offered last fall, the course was three weeks long, but with more in-depth content, it will now be a four-week course.
The course is conducted entirely in English (with English subtitles for videos), and discussions among participants are also in English.
The course is free of charge.
The trailer is available below, and registration is now open.
