The Keio Research Institute at SFC has launched "S-face," a website that introduces its researchers to a global audience.
"S-face" introduces researchers from multiple perspectives as a series of articles through three different types of media: a website (English), videos (English), and a newsletter (English/Japanese).
Vol. 25 features Professor Tomohiro Ichinose of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies.
In recent years, it has been pointed out that the global natural environment is changing rapidly, with large-scale natural disasters occurring frequently around the world.
Meanwhile, "marginal villages," where it has become difficult to maintain economic and social community life due to depopulation and aging, have become a social problem.
These issues, which at first glance seem unrelated, are in fact deeply connected by the keyword "biodiversity and human life."
Professor Tomohiro Ichinose is conducting research on topics such as ecosystem-based "disaster prevention and mitigation" and "sustainable land use."
