[About the "Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Cooperation in Research and Development for Regional Revitalization" between Noshiro City and Keio SFC]

On January 23, 2018, Noshiro City (Mayor: Shigenobu Saito) and the Keio University Keio Research Institute at SFC (Director: Hiroya Tanaka; hereinafter, Keio SFC) will conclude a "Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Cooperation in Research and Development for Regional Revitalization" with the aim of fostering human resources who will lead future society, forming a vibrant local community, and contributing to the promotion of jitsugaku (science) through close mutual cooperation. Additionally, a signing ceremony will be held on the same day in Noshiro City by Mayor Shigenobu Saito and, as a representative of Keio SFC, Professor Masatoshi Tamamura of the Faculty of Policy Management. For eight years since fiscal year 2010, Noshiro City and Keio SFC have collaborated on various practical applications and research studies, centered on "Basketball Town Development," including formulating its promotion plan and promoting projects and community development based on the plan. Building on these achievements, we will conclude this memorandum to enhance our collaborative activities under even closer cooperation. As the first step of the collaborative project, we are recruiting "Community Revitalization Researchers"* to take on the challenge of jitsugaku (science) that revitalizes the town by utilizing local resources such as Noshiro City's "Basketball Town Development." "Community Revitalization Researchers" are expected to reside in Noshiro City and, while receiving advice and guidance from Keio SFC, undertake research, development, and practical initiatives that contribute to the regional revitalization of Noshiro City. (* The appointment and inauguration of Noshiro City's "Community Revitalization Researchers" will take place after various conditions in Noshiro City have been met.)
