"I▫TOP Yokohama" Data Utilization Leader Training Course
—Promoting in-house data utilization as a project of the City of Yokohama's Economic Affairs Bureau—

The Keio University, Keio Research Institute at SFC, Data Business Creation Lab (Lab Representative: Jun Murai; hereinafter Keio Research Institute at SFC), commissioned by the City of Yokohama's Economic Affairs Bureau, will conduct a course for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing and IT industries based in Yokohama. The course aims to train personnel to become leaders within their companies, capable of creating IoT-driven businesses by promoting the utilization of "data" related to IoT.

[Overview]

■Target Audience

Individuals from small and medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing and IT industries

based in the City of Yokohama (approx. 20 participants)

(This course is for those interested in applying data to business and who wish to learn the basics. Beginners in data analysis are welcome.)

■Dates (*This is a three-session course.)

Session 1: January 19, 2018 (Fri.)

Session 2: January 25, 2018 (Thu.)

Session 3: January 31, 2018 (Wed.)

All sessions are scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Keio University Hiyoshi Campus, Kyoseikan Collaboration Complex, 2F, Multipurpose Classroom 1

■Fee: Free of charge

■Course Content:

Lectures on data science, data utilization exercises, presentations, etc.

•Day 1 ◦ Data Utilization Process: Explanation of the data analysis process, including problem definition, hypothesis formulation, and data collection and processing.

◦ Exercise: Experience the data utilization workflow in groups with the guidance of a mentor.

•Day 2 ◦ Data Analysis Methods: Explanation of simple data analysis methods such as descriptive statistics and correlation analysis.

◦ Exercise: Experience the data utilization workflow in groups with the guidance of a mentor.

•Day 3 ◦ Lecture: A lecture by a data scientist who is actively utilizing data.

◦ Group Presentations: Each group will present the results of the exercises conducted on Day 1 and Day 2.

◦ Feedback and Awarding of Certificates of Completion

Other:

1. A certificate of completion will be issued to participants.

2. In principle, participation is limited to one person per company.

3. If the number of applicants exceeds capacity, participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
