Peace Winds Japan and Keio University SFC Launch "Co-Drone" Development Project for Disaster Relief; Press Briefing to be Held on Friday, November 17
The Certified Specified Nonprofit Corporation Peace Winds Japan (PWJ; Representative Director: Kensuke Onishi), the Social Innovation Lab (Representative: Masatoshi Tamamura) and the Consortium for Co-Creation of Drone Collaborative Society (Representative: Tomoyuki Furutani) at the Keio Research Institute at SFC, Keio University , and the Social Innovator Course (Chairperson: Hiroshi Suzuki) of the Graduate School of Media and Governance at Keio University have launched a joint project to develop "Cooperative Drones" (Co-Drones) that can be used in cooperation with disaster relief dogs and search and rescue teams during large-scale disasters. For the time being, the project will proceed with concrete studies of development goals and other matters in a consortium format, with the aim of establishing a business entity in 2018, led by the representatives of each organization. The "Co-Drone" development project is based on the "Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Cooperation in Research and Development on Social Innovation" concluded between PWJ and the Keio Research Institute at SFC.
