Jointly Consider and Promote a Career Support Program for Personnel Driving Regional Revitalization

Supporting the Career Development of "Regional Revitalization Researchers" Appointed by Regions While Conducting R&D in Graduate School

The Social Innovation Lab (Representative: Masatoshi Tamamura; hereinafter "SI Lab") at the Keio Research Institute at SFC and the Social Innovator Course (Chairperson: Hiroshi Suzuki; hereinafter "SI Course") at the Graduate School of Media and Governance, both part of Keio University SFC (Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC); hereinafter "SFC"), are jointly promoting the "Regional Revitalization Researchers" program with local governments, companies, and organizations that have cooperative agreements and memorandums with SFC.

In this program, SFC graduate students taking on practical research and development in the field (including prospective students) are appointed by local governments, companies, and organizations as "Regional Revitalization Researchers," for which they receive remuneration under their respective systems and selection processes . "Regional Revitalization Researchers" will take on practical research and development, setting themes that will bring new initiatives to the region , with learning from the SI Course and research guidance, advice, and support from SFC, both remotely and in person.

The "Regional Revitalization Researchers" program requires personnel with a focus on jitsugaku (science) who can simultaneously tackle "continuous learning," "practical research and development," and "achieving social outcomes" in the field, while also working on their "own skill enhancement." It is also important to support their career development by leveraging the experience and skills they have acquired. Furthermore, it is necessary to consider "work styles" in collaboration with the region that can utilize these abilities.

Based on this understanding, the SI Lab, with the support and cooperation of BizReach, Inc. (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Soichiro Minami; hereinafter "BizReach"), has been exploring a mechanism to support comprehensive career development for individuals who take on the challenge of becoming "Regional Revitalization Researchers."

Based on these considerations, as a first step, a special website, "Regional Revitalization Researchers—Recruiting Social Innovators through Keio University SFC × Local Governments, Companies, and Organizations," was launched on September 22, 2017, on "Stanby," a job search engine provided by BizReach ( https://stanby.jp/si-researcher/ ).

This site allows local governments, companies, and organizations planning to appoint "Regional Revitalization Researchers" to disseminate information about their recruitment and the challenges available . It is expected to raise awareness of the possibility of becoming a "Regional Revitalization Researcher," foster a spirit of challenge, and promote communication between local governments and candidates, leading to mutual understanding and effective appointments and challenges.

Moving forward, the SI Lab will continue to build a mechanism to support the comprehensive career development of "Regional Revitalization Researchers" by collaborating with BizReach and the local governments, companies, and organizations that appoint them, based on their situations and needs.
