Yui Shiozaki (second-year student) competed as a member of the Japan national team in the Women's Rugby World Cup 2017, held in Ireland from Wednesday, August 9 to Saturday, August 26 (local time).

This marked the Japan women's national team's first appearance in the Rugby World Cup in 15 years.

On August 26, the final day of the tournament, they achieved a decisive victory with a score of 44–5 in their match against the Hong Kong national team, held in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Hopes are high for their continued success in the 9th Women's Rugby World Cup in 2021.

Comment from Yui Shiozaki

I recently participated in the Women's Rugby World Cup in Ireland. Although we were unable to achieve our goal of reaching the top 8, by playing against the world's top teams on a tight schedule, I was able to experience and learn a great deal, such as the strength of global competition and the difficulty of winning. Being able to compete with this team on the grand stage of the World Cup has become an invaluable asset and a precious experience for me.

For me personally, the tournament ended with some regrets, but I will not forget this feeling. I intend to train hard from scratch so that we can be sure to win when we compete against the world again in four years. I ask for your continued support for women's rugby.
