The Keio Research Institute at SFC, Keio University has launched "S-face," a website that introduces its researchers to a global audience.
"S-face" introduces researchers from multiple perspectives as a series of articles through three different types of media: a website (English), videos (English), and a newsletter (English/Japanese).
Vol. 21 features Senior Assistant Professor Hisato Mizutori of the Faculty of Policy Management.
Hisato Mizutori won a gold medal in the team final of the artistic gymnastics at the 2004 Athens Olympics and numerous medals at the World Championships.
After his retirement, he was appointed as the youngest-ever head coach and high performance director for the men's national team of the Japan Gymnastics Association, leading the team to its first team gold medal in 37 years at the 2015 World Championships.
Furthermore, at the 2016 Rio Olympics, he led the team to its first team victory in 12 years, since the Athens Olympics where he himself competed as an athlete.
The research theme of Senior Assistant Professor Hisato Mizutori is optimal coaching methods for improving the performance of athletes, mainly in gymnastics, from both objective and subjective perspectives.
