On Wednesday, August 9, a partnership agreement signing ceremony was held between SFC and Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. Ken Kawazoe, Dean of the Faculty of Policy Management, and Sanjo City Mayor Isato Kunisada signed the "Partnership Agreement on Regional Revitalization."

Since fiscal year 2013, SFC has been collaborating with Sanjo City and local organizations working on "sports-oriented community development" on research and practical activities related to topics such as "the power of sports" and "surveys of local resources."

This collaborative partnership project will focus on the theme of "sports-oriented community development." Led by Sanjo City and the Keio Research Institute at SFC, it will jointly launch initiatives such as the "Sanjo City Sports-Oriented Community Development × Monozukuri Project" and promote them by calling for cooperation from local organizations and companies. Specifically, the aim is to revitalize the region through projects such as a nature experience training camp project utilizing the natural environment of the Shitada area; a top athlete service development project to develop and deploy new service content and programs in collaboration with professional and national-level athletes; a para-sports equipment development project to develop equipment for Paralympic sports utilizing Sanjo's monozukuri (manufacturing) technology; and a university sports support project to develop and deploy programs that meet the strengthening needs of developmental-generation university athletes.

Additionally, SFC plans to appoint graduate students and others as "Community Revitalization Researchers," who will reside in Sanjo City to promote and conduct research and development for "sports-oriented community development" and the "Sanjo City Sports-Oriented Community Development × Monozukuri Project."
