Shizuoka Prefecture's AOI-PARC Opens, Keio Research Institute at SFC AOI Lab Established

On Thursday, August 3, an opening ceremony was held for AOI-PARC, a strategic research center for advanced technologies centered on agriculture, in Shizuoka Prefecture, with which Keio University has signed a basic agreement on collaboration and cooperation in advanced agricultural projects. Attendees from Keio University included President Haseyama, Vice-President Kokuryo, and Associate Professor Kaminari of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, who is the representative of the Keio Research Institute at SFC AOI Lab.

At the opening ceremony, following speeches by Shizuoka Governor Kawakatsu and guest congratulatory remarks, President Haseyama expressed his determination for Keio to play a leading role at the forefront of research and education. He stated that through research at AOI-PARC, Keio will engage in activities that contribute to the advancement of science and technology, industrial promotion, the development of local communities, and human resource development.

At the Keio Research Institute at SFC AOI Lab, two of the five researchers will be stationed at AOI-PARC. They will aim to conduct research and development toward industry-academia-government collaboration, in addition to advancing crop cultivation methods, introducing AI agriculture, and developing a platform for integrating production, food, and health information.
