Following on from 2016, the Keio University Keio Research Institute at SFC Global Fab Society Consortium (Representative: Hiroya Tanaka, a professor at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies) will hold a contest to discover new and expansive ways to utilize 3D printers and the talent to lead them. This year, we have established a total of five categories within two divisions (Project Division and Work Division) to allow people of all ages to participate. We are seeking entries while respecting diverse possibilities without unifying values. We look forward to receiving entries for works that connect technology and society, and make the future bright, fun, and gentle.

< Comment from Consortium Representative Hiroya Tanaka (Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies) >

"The various technologies for 3D printers are evolving day by day. The situation has changed incomparably from a few years ago, with software that allows anyone to create 3D data, new materials for 3D printers that give objects new expressive power, and new data formats. While we are advancing the technological development of 3D printers through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's (MEXT) Center of Innovation (COI) Program, we also want to cherish the self-evident fact that it is ultimately 'people' and human 'creativity' that will make the most of this technology. This contest sets itself apart from typical design competitions, and we eagerly await applications from a wide and diverse range of generations and professions, including elementary school students, families, junior and senior high school students, as well as creators and engineering professionals."
