An awards ceremony for four architectural awards hosted by The Japan Institute of Architects (JIA) was held on April 7, where Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) received the "JIA 25 Year Award."
At the ceremony, certificates were presented to Naoki Watanabe, Vice-President of Keio University, as the client; Fumihiko Maki, President of Maki and Associates, as the architect; and Kazushige Asano, Senior Managing Executive Officer of Tokyu Construction Co., Ltd., representing the constructor. On behalf of the winners of the "JIA Newcomer's Award," "JIA Sustainable Architecture Award," and "JIA 25 Year Award," Vice-President Watanabe gave a speech.
The JIA 25 Year Award registers and honors "architecture that has demonstrated its value, been beautifully maintained, and contributed to the local community for over 25 years." Its purpose is to ensure that architecture continues to live on into the future by confirming the role it should play in a diversifying society and presenting a vision for architecture that will connect to the next generation.
