Keio University has decided to confer the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa upon Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee has made immense contributions to the invention of the fundamental technologies of the World Wide Web (WWW), which became the foundation for creating our modern information society, as well as to the design, development, and societal deployment of its core language, HTML, and related technologies. In addition to being a pioneering engineer, he has played a leading role in shaping the information society through the internet and contributed to building friendly relations with Japan and researchers at Keio University during the global expansion of the WWW. The achievements of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, known as the father of the WWW, are truly outstanding. Upon the strong recommendation of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, the Juku will honor him.
To commemorate the conferment of the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa, a commemorative lecture will be held as detailed below. We encourage you to attend.
