Natsuka Konishi, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Policy Management, won first prize out of 220 applicants in the Hong Kong Cup All-Japan University Student Ambassador English Programme 2016-2017, organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

This contest was established by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with the aim of encouraging university students in Japan to explore the dynamism and diversity of Hong Kong.

From four themes—business, working holiday, film, and gourmet—Ms. Konishi chose business. She won the award for the strength of her proposal, which suggested a joint venture between Japanese and Hong Kong accelerators to help Japanese companies establish joint ventures with Hong Kong companies.

A Comment from Natsuka Konishi

I am delighted to have won first prize in the Hong Kong Cup All-Japan University Student Ambassador English Programme. I was given the opportunity to study abroad for one year at the University of Hong Kong, where I was able to learn a great deal.

I strongly feel that Hong Kong is called an international city because it has an "accepting" environment. For this Hong Kong Cup, I proposed the idea of a joint venture that would support and increase opportunities for entrepreneurial young Japanese people to launch businesses for the global market in Hong Kong, alongside people from diverse backgrounds, precisely because Hong Kong has this "accepting" environment. I am very pleased that the judges ultimately appreciated my passion, enthusiasm, and ideas for Hong Kong.

From now on, as a student ambassador connecting Japan and Hong Kong, I will do my best to be of service in any way I can.
