Mika Tamegai, a first-year master's student at the Graduate School of Media and Governance, won an Excellence Award at the 14th Student Business Plan Contest, hosted by the general incorporated foundation Gakusei Support Center.

This contest was established by the general incorporated foundation Gakusei Support Center as a "project to support the cultivation of student creativity." Its purpose is to foster students who are creative, motivated, and able to think and act independently with the free-thinking spirit characteristic of students. This year, there were 117 entries from 43 universities across Japan.

Ms. Tamegai, along with Hao Chen of the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, proposed "EnCorrect: A Cloud-based English Correction Service." She received the award in recognition of her idea for applying artificial intelligence to real-world society and for creating a mock-up website demonstrating how the service would look as an actual business.

Comment from Mika Tamegai

In recent years, there has been a high demand for ideas that utilize the latest technologies and take interdisciplinary approaches.

I feel in my daily research life that many opportunities arise just by slightly broadening my perspective and activities, so I want to continue to maintain a spirit of challenge.
