Professor Jiro Kokuryo of the Faculty of Policy Management and Goi Hoe Chin, a senior researcher at the Keio Research Institute at SFC, received the Journal Award at the 12th Annual Conference of the Japan Association for Policy Informatics on December 3, 2016.
The association was founded in 2004 with the aim of promoting the exchange of organized research and studies on various issues surrounding policy and information, and contributing to the maturation of individuals, the development of society, and the peace and stability of global society.
Professor Kokuryo and Goi Hoe Chin received this award in recognition of the novelty and originality of their research, which adopted a design approach to study student ventures—a field with little accumulated past research.
Comment from Professor Jiro Kokuryo
I am very pleased that the paper I submitted during my doctoral research has received the Journal Award. I feel it is of great significance that a paper so characteristic of SFC—one that was compiled based on records of intervention (practice) results in a field where data is normally very difficult to collect—has been so highly evaluated by the academic society.
Comment from Goi Hoe Chin
I am greatly honored to receive the Journal Award from the Japan Association for Policy Informatics. This paper was completed over a period of three years under the guidance of Professor Kokuryo, with the cooperation of the professors of School On Internet SOI ASIA (a collaborative network between Keio University and Asian universities) and university students in nascent-stage ventures. Encouraged by this award, I hope to learn new research approaches and further devote myself to the study of nascent-stage ventures.
