[ORF2016] "Adobe Systems Co., Ltd. Sponsored Workshop": Call for Participants - Deadline November 17!

At ORF2016, we will be holding three concurrent workshops for high school students and faculty/staff. After the workshops, participants will also attend the "Adobe Education Exchange Kick Off Meeting: The Use of Computers in High School Education and Future Prospects" (4:30 PM–6:00 PM), held at the same venue.

Participation requires pre-registration. Please see the bottom of the page for application instructions.

■ Target Audience

High school students and faculty/staff who can bring a laptop with the Adobe software used in the workshop installed.

*Either the full or trial version of the Adobe software is acceptable.

*The trial version is available for free for a limited number of days. If you plan to use the trial version, please install it just before the workshop.

*Either Windows or Mac OS is acceptable.

*The Adobe Creative Cloud trial version can be downloaded here.

■ Workshop 1

"Laser Cutter"

Instructor: Takuya Onishi (Associate Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies)

In this workshop, you will experience the new possibilities of creation using a Trotec laser cutter. Let's create while thinking about what kind of jobs the laser cutter, currently the most popular digital fabrication tool, can create in the future.

■ Workshop 2

"Cutting Plotter"

Instructor: Daijiro Mizuno (Associate Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies)

In this workshop, you will experience the new possibilities of creation using a Graphtec cutting plotter. Let's create while considering how the ability to draw pictures and make paper cutouts faster, more enjoyably, and more reliably than by hand can transform the future of manufacturing.

■ Workshop 3

"Newspaper"

Instructor: Daijiro Mizuno (Associate Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies)

In this workshop, you will create a new kind of newspaper while thinking about what that means. In a digital environment where paper is no longer necessary and photos can be replaced by video, what will a new kind of newspaper look like? Let's go out and gather news within the ORF venue and try editing a new kind of newspaper.
