On August 5-6, the Faculty of Policy Management and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies held a regional revitalization workshop through high school-university collaboration in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, with the support of the Nagasaki Prefectural Government's Community Development Promotion Division.

Twenty-three second-year high school students from Nagasaki Prefecture participated, conducting fieldwork in Sasebo City alongside SFC faculty and students. Through active discussions, they formulated proposals for regional revitalization and presented them to officials from Nagasaki Prefecture and Sasebo City, as well as to teachers. The proposals were full of unique perspectives characteristic of high school students, making the workshop fruitful for the high school students, university students, and the local community alike.

This program was designed to provide high school and university students with an opportunity to develop skills essential for future society, such as problem-finding and solving, communication, presentation, and initiative. For the local community, it served as a platform to rediscover and promote its attractions and resources. Since its establishment, SFC has incorporated active learning methods like discussions and PBL (Project-Based Learning) to cultivate leaders for society. Moving forward, SFC will continue to introduce advanced programs to foster problem-finding and solving skills through high school-university collaboration. Together with faculty and students, SFC aims to create practical knowledge that contributes to regional revitalization through fieldwork and group work.
