On Tuesday, June 28, a group of 13 faculty members and students from the Master's and Doctoral Program in Japan Studies at the College of International Affairs, National Chengchi University, Taiwan, visited SFC to hold a joint research workshop.
SFC and National Chengchi University have a deep relationship. Active exchange began with the university's establishment of the Center for Modern Japan Studies in 2009 and the creation of the Master's and Doctoral Program in Japan Studies at its College of International Affairs in 2011. Since then, various conferences have been held in both Japan and Taiwan to promote research exchange and joint research.
A formal exchange agreement was established in August 2012, and with support from the Japan Foundation, Professor Tomoki Kamo, Associate Professor Ken Jimbo, and Associate Professor Yuichiro Shimizu have since served as visiting faculty at the College of International Affairs at National Chengchi University. In turn, faculty members from the program at National Chengchi University have also visited SFC to give lectures. As for student exchange, the Kamo Seminar (Chinese Politics and Diplomacy) and the Shimizu Seminar (Japanese Politics and Diplomacy) have previously visited National Chengchi University for research exchanges, but this time, National Chengchi University came to Japan to hold the joint research workshop.
The workshop featured five presentations, followed by a lively Q&A session among the participants, making it a valuable event that will contribute to further exchange in the future.
