The Data Business Creation Lab at Keio Research Institute at SFC, Keio University (Location: Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture; Director: Yoshinori Iimori; Lab Representative: Jun Murai; hereinafter "Keio Research Institute at SFC"), in collaboration with Accenture Japan Ltd (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masafumi Egawa; hereinafter "Accenture"), announces that it will hold the "5th Data Business Creation Contest—Digital Innovators Grand Prix 5" (abbreviated as DIG 5).
This Data Business Creation Contest targets students from high school to graduate school across Japan. With "regional revitalization" as its theme, the contest challenges participants to compete on proposals for attracting tourists to local regions and stimulating consumption by analyzing the movements of the rapidly increasing number of inbound tourists. The contest is held in two stages: a preliminary round and a final round. In the preliminary round, students will collect and analyze information such as open data published by local governments to understand the dynamics of the surging number of inbound tourists and the challenges faced by the municipality. They will then propose ideas to attract inbound tourists or promote consumption. In the final round, participants will use services such as "TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi," provided by Wire and Wireless Co., Ltd., which visualizes the location data of inbound tourists and enables direct information delivery to them. They will actually implement their proposed measures for attracting tourists and stimulating consumption, and the results will be evaluated.
