On Saturday, May 14, a private viewing was held for the Miraisozojuku (Institute for Designing the Future) SBC (Student Build Campus) Residence Hall 1 and the DFF-W (Digital Fabrication Factory - Wood). The event was attended by approximately 100 people, including donors to the Miraisozojuku (Institute for Designing the Future) fundraising project and members of the Keio University Council.
The weather was fine on the day of the event, and in the spacious interior, attendees heard greetings from SFC executive members, including Vice-President Kokuryo, and an explanation of the Miraisozojuku (Institute for Designing the Future) project by students involved in the Miraisozojuku (Institute for Designing the Future) SBC. They also watched a video screening of the ridgepole-raising ceremony and toured the facilities, including beds and tables designed and built by current and former SFC students. At the DFF-W, which is equipped with machinery for woodworking, visitors could see students actually engaged in production. For some attendees, it was their first visit to SFC, making it a meaningful event that allowed them to experience the spirit that has been passed down since SFC's founding: "students and faculty members of the campus will take the initiative to create the future."
As for Residence Hall 1, it is scheduled to be used for research groups and other activities on a trial basis during the spring semester, with full-scale operation planned to begin in the fall semester.
