January 15, 2016 To all faculty members, SFC Facilities Committee Re: Applications for Use of Shared Research Labs for Academic Year 2016 If you wish to use a shared research lab in academic year 2016, please follow the application procedures outlined below. 1. Please fill out the "Application Form for Use of Shared Research Lab." * Please submit an application whether it is for new use, continued use, or continued use with changes. Please note that you may not be allocated a shared research lab if an application is not submitted. * For new applications or in cases where the project name changes significantly, please also fill out and submit the "Statement of Reasons for Use of Shared Research Lab." The same applies when there is a change in the project representative. * If you will be vacating a shared research lab at the end of academic year 2015, please mark the "Vacate" box on the "Application Form for Use of Shared Research Lab," be sure to enter the scheduled date of departure, and submit the form. 2. The use of shared research labs requires a contribution toward an adjustment fee, with the exception of specific uses determined by the executive board for policy reasons. Regarding the adjustment fee, after deliberation by the Facilities and Environment Committee, it has been decided that the fee will remain the same as in academic year 2015. This decision was made to clarify the objective of using these funds to improve the educational and research environment at SFC in the future. We appreciate your understanding. ○ Adjustment and Usage Fees For shared research labs in the κ, ε, ι, ο, λ, τ, and ν Buildings, a fee will be charged for the portion of the usage area exceeding 20 m² per full-time faculty member (4,000 yen/tsubo per month). For shared research labs in the Delta and Zeta Buildings, a fee will be charged for the usage area (6,000 yen/tsubo per month). 3. Main Changes from Last Year • For continued use, please state the purpose of use for academic year 2016. • A change in the project representative is treated as a new application, so please also submit the attached statement of reasons. • As a general rule, the content of the application form and the statement of reasons will be published on the web (for internal university access only).
