Description: We will be holding three workshops for high school students.

1. "Design Clothes by Combining Adobe Software"

DTP (desktop publishing) software is no longer just for designing books, magazines, and posters!

You can even do fashion design by combining Adobe software.

In this workshop, you will use multiple software programs

to design clothing patterns and fabric prints on a computer.

Any high school student is welcome to participate, regardless of their focus on humanities, sciences, or arts.

[Time] Saturday, November 21, 2015, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

[Location] Tokyo Midtown, 4F Conference Room 8

*Software used: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

*Capacity: 10 people

2. "Hack and Design Everyday Objects"

The potential of Adobe software now extends beyond paper and screens.

By connecting to digital fabrication tools like laser cutters, you can "print" data onto all kinds of materials,

including fabric, wood, and stone. Let's experience a new kind of creation

by hacking common items from home improvement centers and 100-yen shops.

[Time] Saturday, November 21, 2015, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

[Location] Tokyo Midtown, B1F Hall openB

*Software used: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

*Capacity: 5 people

3. "Create Graphic Designs with Programming"

This is a workshop where you will practice graphic design unique to computers using PostScript,

known as the origin of Adobe. You will learn the grammar and syntax of PostScript

and practice algorithmic drawing and layout through programming.

We welcome the participation of high school students from a wide range of fields, whether in the humanities, sciences, or arts.

[Time] Saturday, November 21, 2015, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

[Location] Tokyo Midtown, 4F Conference Room 8

*Software used: Adobe Illustrator

[Preliminary Dialogue]

A dialogue between Professor Satoshi Wakita of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, an instructor for this workshop, and students from the Daijiro Mizuno Lab

was held at Adobe Systems Co., Ltd.

The article on the dialogue is available here

On the day of the event, other sessions for high school students, such as the "SFC Course for High School Students," will be held at the same venue as this workshop.

This is an opportunity for SFC faculty to talk about what you can learn and what you can work on at SFC—content you won't hear anywhere else. If you are interested in SFC, please be sure to attend.

We look forward to your active participation!
