Risa Sato, a first-year student, has been selected as Japan's representative for the MOS World Championship 2015. MOS stands for Microsoft Office Specialist, an international PC qualification that certifies proficiency in using Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. Ms. Sato took the exam for this qualification while in high school and also entered the concurrently held MOS World Championship 2015.

As a result, she overcame a competitive field of 47,000 applicants and was successfully chosen as the representative for Japan in the Word category. This is the first time a student from SFC has been selected as a representative, making it a remarkable achievement.

Ms. Sato will next attend the MOS World Championship Japan Representative Announcement Ceremony at the Tokyo International Forum. Afterward, in August, she will participate in the MOS World Championship in Dallas, Texas, USA. There, she will compete against representatives from around the world, taking a special Word exam for the final round to aim for the title of world champion.

Comment from Risa Sato

Taking an information technology class in high school gave me the opportunity to take the MOS certification exam. Thanks to my high school classes, I was able to master each function of Word, and I am deeply honored to have ultimately been selected as Japan's representative. At the world championship, I will of course aim for first place, but I also hope to interact with students from various countries. I want to discuss how they incorporate IT into their learning environments and apply those insights to my own studies at SFC.
