The 2014 International University Men's Volleyball Tournament was held in Gwangju, South Korea, from Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15.
Masahiro Yanagida (4th Year, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies) of the Keio University Athletic Association Volleyball Team was selected to compete as the captain of the Japanese national team, and the team brilliantly won the championship.
Although Japan lost its final match to South Korea, it won straight-set victories against China, the United States, Australia, and Kazakhstan. Finishing with a 4-1 record, Japan was tied with South Korea and the United States in points and win-loss record, but it won the championship based on a superior set ratio. Additionally, starting from Monday, August 18, Yanagida will participate in the Europe and South America tour of the All-Japan Men's Team, Ryujin NIPPON , and his continued success is highly anticipated.
