On April 3, the 2014 Kick-off Lecture was held at the Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC).
The Kick-off Lecture is an opportunity for new students starting their journey at SFC to receive passionate messages from distinguished members of society who are their seniors in life.
This time, Mr. Hiroshi Mikitani, Chairman and CEO of Rakuten, Inc., gave a lecture titled "Aiming to be the World's No. 1 Internet Service Company - Rakuten's Growth and Innovation."
Afterward, in a dialogue with Professor Murai, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, he enthusiastically spoke about episodes from his student days and the time he started his business, what Rakuten aims for in the future, and his message for young people. There was also a lively Q&A session with the new students in the audience.
