An open campus for high school students and prospective applicants interested in the Faculty of Policy Management, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) was held at SFC on Wednesday, July 31.
The event included lectures by the deans, mock classes, and campus tours.
In addition, the Faculty of Policy Management and Faculty of Environment and Information Studies organized an "Alumni Session" and a "Global Campus Session," inviting alumni who are active in various fields both in Japan and abroad. They shared specific anecdotes about what they learned at SFC and how their studies have been useful in their current jobs.
In a session titled "Learning and How to Learn at SFC," a dialogue between students and faculty members introduced the specific ways in which students learn. There were also many programs planned and run by the students themselves, such as a student stage and a communication corner with current students, which showcased the appeal of SFC from a student's perspective.
Additionally, an exhibition was held to introduce some of the exhibits from last year's "SFC Open Research Forum," an event for presenting research findings held every November. This exhibition will continue to be held at the Tau Building until mid-September, so please be sure to visit.
The Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care offered faculty information sessions, mock classes, campus tours, and consultation corners. In addition, there were presentations by students on their activities and by faculty and students who participated in a training program in Laos. The hands-on corner featured demonstrations of life-saving AEDs and an opportunity to practice auscultation using a stethoscope, and the exhibition corner displayed various materials showcasing faculty research, campus life, alumni activities, and the content of actual classes.
Approximately 2,200 high school students, prospective applicants, and their guardians attended for the Faculty of Policy Management and Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and over 800 for the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, giving them a chance to experience SFC firsthand.
