Academic Project (AP)

Academic Projects (AP) are projects aimed at "creating the future." They involve setting an "issue" or "new concept" that we should address, and working as an education and research team to design models, methods, and systems for creating innovation targeting those issues through research and education. They also aim to implement these and realize methodologies to sublimate them into academic disciplines (academism). Each AP clearly states keywords representing the issue or new concept in its title. It is inconceivable that new issues or concepts will remain the same for decades to come. Perspectives on discovering and solving issues must constantly change in response to shifts and fluctuations in society, nature, and technology. The titles, content, and number of Academic Projects will move dynamically, being updated according to the times. The characteristics of this initiative are that problem discovery and solution, which were previously conducted on an individual basis, are now carried out by teams, and that what is to be created is clearly stated in the title of the Academic Project.

Rather than an approach to education and research based on academic disciplines, Academic Projects can be positioned as projects where new "issues" or "new concepts" are set as themes for future innovation, with research and education conducted by teams. Each AP is realized by forming a team aiming for innovation within the Graduate School of Media and Governance. These teams consist of multiple faculty members and students who work together diligently to conduct research and education. By embodying education and research teams in the form of APs, and with the cooperation of industry, government, and local municipalities, we will foster new leaders and create an environment that promotes research.
