Why I Chose SFC and My Journey to University
I was attending a technical high school with the aim of finding a job, but for various reasons, I gave up on that path in the fall of my second year. When the career path I had envisioned disappeared, I decided to change direction and go on to university, partly because my older brother was attending one.
After deciding to pursue higher education and figuring out what I wanted to research, I happened to come across the online ORF (Open Research Forum). After watching a discussion between professors, I felt that this was the only place for me and decided to take on the challenge of applying to SFC.
Considering that the academic level at a technical high school is lower than that of a regular high school, I applied through the AO Entrance Examination, which would allow me to highlight my unique qualities. At the same time, I also studied for the general entrance examinations.
I passed the Summer/Fall AO Entrance Examination.
What is your recommended study method?
Get into the habit of always looking at where you stand in everything from a third-person perspective.
The Connection Between Your High School Studies and Your Current Learning at SFC
Because my high school only covered the basics, my academic performance was below average in all subjects when it came to university entrance exams. My studies also included industrial subjects, so I studied engines and things like when materials will fracture. I studied manufacturing-related topics in more detail since I wasn't doing the same studies as students in regular courses.
As you can see, there is no direct connection in terms of subjects, but I feel that being at a technical high school has definitely broadened the scope of my research. Furthermore, I think that learning about manufacturing has made it easier for me to grasp the structure of things. Grasping the structure of things is important in any field, so that is a lesson that still connects to what I'm doing now.
