Why I Chose SFC and My Journey to University

1. I always planned on going to university. I was interested in education, so I applied to a faculty of education and to SFC.

2. I had many things I wanted to do and hadn't decided on a university when a teacher recommended SFC during a guidance counseling session. I realized that SFC would allow me to pursue most of the things I was interested in, which is why I decided to apply.

3. Since the only other faculties I applied to were in education, I thought I wanted to become a teacher. However, I couldn't picture myself standing in front of a class. I wanted to be involved in education from an external perspective, which led me to choose SFC and enroll in the current Faculty of Environment and Information Studies.

I enjoy mathematics, so I solved a lot of problems. For the SFC math exam, I went through the problems repeatedly. Even if the questions were different, the way of thinking required was similar, so I practiced repeatedly to train my mind.

For the short essay, I practiced writing, but I also focused on gathering a wide range of information. To do this, I made a conscious effort to read newspapers, browse online news, and talk with various teachers. I made it a point to have many casual conversations with my school teachers about recent news that caught my interest.

I believed that having knowledge on many topics would be an advantage for the short essay, so I focused on collecting material. I would rewrite my response to a single prompt until I was satisfied. Once I was satisfied, I would write more, tackling the same prompt from different angles. In addition to my Japanese language teacher, I also had teachers of subjects related to my essay topics review my work and give me feedback on the content.

The Connection between My High School Studies and My Current Learning at SFC

I disliked studying for entrance exams and didn't study at all, so my grades weren't good. However, I found joy in teaching junior members in my club, and that led me to study sports coaching.

Currently, I am engaged in various studies, focusing on sports-related courses.

A Message for Prospective Students

At SFC, you can freely put various ideas into practice. I believe you can achieve things here that might not be possible in other faculties! If you want to research something a little unconventional, you should definitely come to SFC. You'll make a lot of truly interesting friends!
