Reseach overview

My research focuses on Dutch art and the art market of the early modern period, with particular emphasis on the reception and valuation of seventeenth-century Dutch painting in the international art market of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. I am currently interested in eighteenth-century reproductive drawings in watercolor made after pictures by seventeenth-century Dutch masters, and the changing notion of copies/reproductions in theory and practice.
