As a next-generation metro/access integrated network with a erastic band, we study Elastic Lambda Aggregation Network (E$lambda$AN). E$lambda$AN realizes elastic bandwidth allocation by changing the connection of the OLT and the ONU responding to traffic demand. As an form of network configuration E$lambda$AN, In this paper, we propose the model of TDM network using optical switch. Consider the trade-off of the number of the use of optical switches and blocking ratio, we have carried out a comparative study of the multiple network model.

To realize balance between power supply and de- mand, many demand response programs (DR) are proposed. Although a large number of studies have been made on reducing peak-to-average ratio (PAR), little is known about achieving fairness between consumers. For example, consumer A always reserves the electricity ahead of time, consumer B never reserve it. If there are highly-loads in the power grid, consumer A waits until the load reaches lower value, and then consumer A turns on appliances. consumer A has a high chance of getting lower power price than consumer B but there are no guarantee that. Sometimes consumer A may get higher power price due to unexpected power demands occured. In this paper, we propose incentive-based dynamic demand scheduling algorithm and con- trol architecture with it. Consumers can get the monetary benefits each time they wait. Simulation results confirm that the proposed approach can reduce the peak-to-average ratio of the total energy demand. In addition, consumers can get the monetary benefits according to their waiting time.

Conventional telephone networks were mainly used for voice communication between two terminals, but future networks is predicted to support data distribution and retrieval via the network, as seen in M2M (Machine-to-Machine) services. Recently network architecture called Data-oriented Network that is optimal for data distribution and retrieval is proposed. However, existing methods have problems where the method does not scale when data is moving in wide area and frequently added, moved, and updated. In this paper, we propose Data-oriented Network that enables scalable routing in extremely distributed and mobile environment.

Recentry, IPTV which provided by optical access network are developed. We have proposed an active optical access network (ActiON) employing high-speed optical switches that ensures a higher subscriber number and longer transmission distance than those in the case of the conventional PON for IPTV. Moreover, ActiON supports multicast slot allocation, which forces the switch to behave as an optical splitter. This paper introduces ActiON with variable distribution mode, which controls the distribution rate of the power. Proposed method realizes flexible multicast slot allocation according to the transmission distance from OLT to each user and the number of required users. Moreover, as the technology to realize the proposed method, this paper also shows increasing bandwidth efficiency by adjusting of the proportion of optical power by applying the variable voltage to each electrode.

A smart house which equips power generators, power storage systems, and a smart meter which controls those equipments to utilize renewable energy efficiently has attracted attentions. Smart house is expected to reduce energy cost of residential by efficient usage of energy resources. Scheduling methods of the equipments to reduce energy cost have been proposed. However, since they focus on only one house, the effect of the scheduling decreases due to the imbalance of the equipments and the concentration of selling energy to power grid at same time. This paper proposes a new scheduling method to operate multi-smart houses totally by virtually sharing their equipments. The proposed method can improve the imbalance of the equipments and reduce the amount of disposal energy. By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed method can reduce over 16 % the energy cost to the conventional method.

In this paper, a novel network architecture which is called Energy Efficient and Enhanced-type Data-centric Network (E3-DCN) is proposed which not only supports machine-to-machine communication society for further, but also realizes an advanced energy efficient network. E3-DCN searches the user’s desired data by Data ID, and moreover can generate new data using existing network resource according to user’s request. It can choose the optimal transmission path and also can reconfigure network topology according to current network situation for energy saving. In addition, E3-DCN applies advanced intelligent cache strategies to realize an energy efficient Contents Delivery Network.

We previously proposed Energy Efficient and Enhanced-type DCN(E3-DCN) which includes mash-up service and Data Centric Network(DCN) and transmission energy efficiency. Mash-up service is the cloud service which combines devices, softwares, and contents on network. In the DCN, users request contents names to the network and receive requested contents from the network. E3-DCN is built on the NeW Generation Network(NWGN), and aims at transmission energy optimization. In this paper, we propose the dynamic transmission route selection system in consideration of future traffic states. The simulation using Integer Linear Programming(ILP) shows the validity of this proposed system. And, we also introduce an experiment of a power saving mash-up service type contents distribution system.

This paper proposes a charging algorithm which is based on the Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (EDA) for Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The proposed algorithm shifts the peak of power supply, satisfies the requested State of Charge (SoC [%]), and minimizes the charging cost. The proposed algorithm uses flexible weight for charging and upper charging limit to each PHEV to minimize the charge amount in peak time. The simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm shifts the peak of power supply in commute time zones, satisfies SoC of 93% PHEVs, and reduces charging cost by 31% compared with conventional EDA algorithm.

This paper presents a concept of the Energy Efficient and Enhanced-type Data-centric Network (E3-DCN). For future network technology, the Contents-centric Network (CCN) is widely studied. DCN is an extended version of CCN. M2M communication and mobility of the data are supported. In the enhanced-type DCN, a user requests data name or identifier to the network. If the exactly matched requested data are not found in the network, the network constructs the requested data. E3-DCN provides an energy efficient contents delivery network on the network virtualization platform.

We foresee continuous increase in network traffic due to media streaming services and smart phones, and also future increase in M2M (Machine-to-Machine) data traffic such as sensor networks. On the other hand, improving the energy consumption of the network itself will be one of the important requirements in the future. In this presentation, we introduce a new network architecture called E3-DCN(Energy Efficient, and Enhanced-type Data Centric Network) which optimizes energy consumption within data-centric network.

We set up a six-node full-mesh connected test network. The TE link information, which should be dynamically set in adding/deleting nodes, in the LMP configuration has accounted for nearly 64% (5 TE links information) of the total per one C-plane node. The MiDORi-GMPLS software is able to detect increasing and decreasing of nodes and links, and set all TE link parameters using the plug-and-play technique. Therefore, the operator sets 36% of static parameters in advance, the MiDORi network system automatically recognizes the physical network topology and TE links. The system reads initial LSP configuration and start operation. Node deletion and addition have been successfully operated.

We propose a method ofr performing a virtual transmission where the power generation and consumption by Electric Vehicle (EV) in remote areas except its owner's home is regarded as the power generation and consumption at home. To realize the virtual transmission, a new bundle with special features is added to OSGi which is a platform of the home gateway. This bundle provides a communication function by IP between home gateways and manages the price of smart meters according to power generation and consumption in remote areas. The use of the bundle enables EV in remote areas to charge and discharge, and the power rate in the single family is reduced.

The conventional telephony networking was used mainly for communication between two terminals. However, recent network such as the Internet is mainly used for data distribution and access via the network. Recent research efforts are conducted to realize new network architecture that is optimized for this kind of communication, but it lacked in scalability when the data is added, moved, or updated. In this paper, we propose a new architecture called Data-centric Network (DCN) that allows scalable access to dynamic data in a widely distributed environment.
