Bi2Te3-based materials have been widely studied as practical thermoelectric materials. EuSn2P2 is a promising candidate for thermoelectric applications because it crystallizes in a layered hexagonal structure with the same space group as Bi2Te3. In this study, polycrystalline hexagonal EuSn2P2 was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method using Eu ingots and pre-reacted Sn–P pellets as starting materials. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction to evaluate the phase formation and lattice parameters. Polycrystalline EuSn2P2 samples with different lattice constants were successfully synthesized under different reaction conditions. The variation in lattice constants suggests possible off-stoichiometry in EuSn2P2. These results provide fundamental information for controlling the synthesis conditions and chemical composition of polycrystalline EuSn2P2.

The superconducting transition temperatures (Tc) of hydrogen doped YBa2Cu3O8−δHx were demonstrated. Optimum doped and N2 annealed under doped samples were hydrogen doped under H2. In the under doped samples, Tc decreased by 3.5–4 K. TPD-MS showed a 3.0–3.3 fold increase in hydrogen, and the H concentration x was estimated to be 0.072–0.086.

Despite 143-Zintl phase was recently found to be a new family of high performance thermoelectric compounds, the lack of n-type restricts its potential for application in practical thermoelectric modules. Here we report a novel n-type 143-Zintl phase compound of RbCdZnAs as a counterpart. The samples were prepared using solid-state reactions and densified via hot pressing. The Seebeck coefficients were negative, demonstrating that they represent n-type conductors. The Hall carrier concentration was found to decrease upon Zn doping, suggesting that the band gap opened upon doping, consistent with the results of first-principles calculations. Notably, the Hall mobility was extremely high, namely myu_B = 2.0 × 103 cm2/Vs at T = 300 K, originating from the electrical conductivities of the Cd 5s and As 4p electrons. On the other hand, a low lattice thermal conductivity was obtained, i.e., the minimum value of 0.56 W/mK (x = 0.4) at T = 624 K, and the maximum value of the dimensionless figure-of-merit (ZT) was determined to be 0.43 ( x = 0.4) at T = 620 K. These results pave the way for the development of high-performance n-type thermoelectric compounds of the 143-Zintl phase.

Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is an essential part of the electrolysis of water in the fields of renewable energyand rechargeable metal–air batteries. However, since the large overpotential of OER causes an energy loss in electrolysis of water, an appropriate OER electrocatalyst is required. In this report, the function of YBa2Cu3O7−delta (YBCO) was investigated as a new OER catalyst, which enhances the activity because of the reaction mechanism caused by oxygen deficiency. YBCO samples were synthesized via a sol-gel reaction and calcined at 760, 820 and 920 C. Crystal structures were determined by powder X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The overpotentials of YBCO as an OER catalyst were measured by Rotating Ring Disk Electrodes (RRDE). OER activity of YBCO is superior to a bare glassy carbon and carbon black with regards to OER overpotential and Tafel slope. Moreover, the crystal structure of YBCO may play a role in the enhancement of OER activity. Tetragonal YBCO exhibits better OER catalyst activity than that of orthorhombic YBCO.

（日本語）：多結晶のキャリアのドープされたワイドギャップ半導体であるLaCu1-δS0.5Se0.5O (δ = 0.01)の電気的熱的輸送現象を 473~673 Kの範囲で報告する。LaCu1-δS0.5Se0.5O (δ = 0.01)は複合アニオン化合物である。得られた結果はJonker plotに即した。 （英語）：Electrical and thermal transport properties of a polycrystalline carrier-doped wide-gap semiconductor LaCu1-δS0.5Se0.5O (δ = 0.01), in which the CuCh (Ch = S, Se) layer works as conducting layer, were measured at temperatures 473~673 K. The presence of δ = 0.01 copper defects dramatically reduces the electrical resistivity (ρ) to approximately one part per million compared to that of δ = 0 at room temperature. The polycrystalline δ = 0.01 sample exhibited ρ of 1.3 × 10-3 Ωm, thermal conductivity of 6.0 Wm-1 K-1, and Seebeck coefficient (S) of 87 µVK-1 at 673 K. The maximum value of the dimensionless figure of merit (ZT) of the δ = 0.01 sample was calculated to be 6.4 × 10-4 at T = 673 K. The ZT value is far smaller than a ZT ~ 0.01 measured for a nominal LaCuSeO sample. The smaller ZT is mainly due to the small S measured for LaCu1-δS0.5Se0.5O (δ = 0.01). According to the Debye model, above 300 K phonon thermal conductivity in a pure lattice is inversely proportional to T, while thermal conductivity of the δ = 0.01 sample increases with increasing T.

The novel oxysulfides La2Ta2ZrS2O8, La2Ta2TiS2O8, and La2Nb2TiS2O8 were synthesized, and their crystal structures, electronic structures, and photocatalytic activities for water splitting under visible light were investigated. A crystal structure analysis using SXRD indicated the presence of antisite defects at transition metal ion sites. LTZSO was revealed to be active in the oxygen evolution reaction from aqueous solution containing a sacrificial electron acceptor under visible-light illumination.

層状ビスマス硫化物 EuBiS2Fの電気的熱的輸送現象を報告する。この物質において、Eu 4f-Bi6p軌道混成とそれに起因する興味深い輸送現象が予想されている。しかしながら300 K以上の温度領域では、EuBiS2Fで観察される輸送現象は4f軌道が電気的性質に寄与しないLaBiS2Oと同様であり、Eu 4f-Bi 6p軌道混成の影響は定かで無い。EuBiS2Fの格子熱伝導率はSrBiS2Fに比べて小さい。 これはEuがSrに比べ、質量数が大きいことに起因する。

Metal organic deposited Y0.77Gd0.23Ba2Cu3O7-delta ((Y,Gd)BCO) thin films on SrTiO3 substrate were heat-treated in hydrogen (H2) atmosphere below 300 deg.C with or without hydride bias irradiation. Two kinds of (Y,Gd)BCO thin films prepared as over-doped (delta~0.05) and under-doped (delta~0.35) were used for the heat treatment. The (Y,Gd)BCO crystallographic phase disappears in both of over-doped and under-doped thin films heated at heat treatment temperature (T) = 300 deg. C. The (Y,Gd)BCO crystallographic phase sustains at the higher T = 250 deg. C in the under-doped samples. Heat treatment at T ≤ 200 deg. C increased lattice constant (c) at a room temperature for both thin films. As for samples heated at T = 210 deg. C, the c of hydride (H-) irradiated one decreases; however, the c of H- unirradiated one increases.

熱電変換とは温度差によって発電を行う技術であり，省エネルギー社会実現の鍵として注目を集めている．近年，我々は 143-Zintl 相化合物 Rb(Zn,Cu)4As4 が比較的高い無次元性能指数 ZT = 0.53 (797 K)を示すことを報告した．本研究では RbZn4As3のAsをGeで置換した材料RbZn4As2.8Ge0.2を合成した．その高温輸送特性を測定した結果，non-doped 試料と比べて電気抵抗率及びゼーベック係数の低下が確認され，正孔の濃度増加に成功したことが明らかとなった.

FeCr2S4の電気的性質のMn置換による系統変化を明らかにした。FeCr2S4は170 K 以下でフェリ磁性相を示し、60 K 以下でスピングラス相に転移する。FeCr2S4のFeサイトにMnを部分置換した試料では、常磁性相が磁気秩序相(フェリ磁性相、スピングラス相)に空間的に分離してグレイン中で共存していると考えられる。Mnの部分置換により、フェリ磁性転移温度、スピングラス転移温度はともに低温側にシフトした。

スピネル型化合物CuCr2S4は375 K 以下で強磁性を示す金属である。CuCr2S4は84 K 以下で強磁性相とスピングラス相が空間的に分離した状態で存在している。また、低温の磁気抵抗では、正と負の寄与が重なって観測される。 CuCr2S4のCu1+サイトに20 atom% 程度 Mg2+を部分置換した試料では負の磁気抵抗効果の寄与が大きくなる。すなわち、異価数イオンのドーピングによるCr 3d 電子数の減少 (バンドフィリング制御)により、負の磁気抵抗効果が大きくなることがわかった。

スピネル型硫化物FeCr2S4はフェリ磁性を示す半導体であり、フェリ磁性転移温度 (~170 K)付近で比較的大きな磁気抵抗効果を示す。本論文では、FeCr2S4のFeイオンサイトにMnイオンを部分置換し、磁気抵抗効果が最大になる組成を明らかにした。磁気抵抗比 MR = (ρ0 ρH)/ ρ0はFe0.5Mn0.5Cr2S4 で最大となった。

2種類の層状マンガン酸化硫化物(Sr2CuMnO3S, Sr4Cu2Mn3O7.5S2)はいずれも反強磁性を示す絶縁体である。Sr2CuMnO3SのMnサイトにZnを、Sr4Cu2Mn3O7.5S2のSrサイトにLaをそれぞれ部分置換し、格子定数、原子価、磁性の系統変化を明らかにした。Sr2CuMnO3Sの反強磁性転移温度(TN)はZnドープにより低温側にシフトし、Zn濃度が20 atom%の場合、TN =120 Kから60 Kまで低下する。Sr4Cu2Mn3O7.5S2の磁化率の温度依存性は、LaドープによりTNは不明瞭になり、スピングラス的な挙動に変化することがわかった。

逆PbO型Cu2S2層、平面型Sr層、平面型ZnO2層が互いに積層した構造の結晶であるSr2Cu2ZnO2S2のZnサイトへ、Mnを5, 10, 20 atom%のドーピングを行い、その電気的性質、磁気的性質を明らかにした。非ドープ試料、ドープ試料はともに半導体であった。室温にて、結晶中のMnイオンは、常磁性的な線形の磁化磁場依存を示した。ドープ量の増加とともに、低温 (10 K)の磁化磁場カーブにて、非常磁性的な飽和成分が増加した。

巨大磁気抵抗効果 (CMR)を示す材料であるLa0.7Pb0.3MnO3の磁性イオン(Mnイオン)サイトに非磁性イオン(Znイオン)を部分置換することで、磁気希釈を行い、その電気的性質、磁気的性質の変化を明らかにした。La0.7Pb0.3MnO3は金属的な電気抵抗の温度依存を示すのに対し、Zn濃度が10 atom%以上の試料は絶縁体的な温度依存に変化する。すなわち、磁気希釈により、遍歴電子による強磁性秩序が一部破壊されたことで、伝導電子が局在化した。

層状マンガン酸化硫化物(Sr2CuMnO3S)の合成、電気抵抗率測定、磁気測定、光電子分光測定を行い、磁性を明らかにした。Sr2CuMnO3S は反強磁性であり、半導体である。Sr2CuMnO3SのCu 2p Mn2p の光電子分光スペクトルの解析により、Sr2CuMnO3Sに含まれるCu、Mnイオンの価数は、それぞれ、1+、2+と求まった。すなわち、Sr2CuMnO3Sに含まれるCuの価電子はd10の閉殻構造である。

逆PbO型Cu2S2層とペロブスカイト酸化物層が互いに積層した構造をもつ層状遷移金属硫化酸化物の合成、電気抵抗率測定、磁気測定を行い、いずれの化合物も半導体であり、反強磁性体であることがわかった。Sr1-xLaxCu2Mn3O7.5S2の電気抵抗率は、La濃度の上昇とともに、減少した。

層状酸化硫化物であるSr2Cu2CoO2S2の磁気的、電気的性質を明らかにした。Sr2Cu2CoO2S2はネール温度(TN) 200 K の反強磁性体である。磁化率の温度依存性は、2次元的な磁気構造を示唆するブロードなピークを示す。X線光電子分光による構成イオンの価数同定を行い、Sr2Cu2CoO2S2中のCuイオンは閉殻構造(Cu1+)であることを明らかにした。すなわち、Sr2Cu2CoO2S2に含まれる磁性イオンは、Coに限られる。Sr2Cu2CoO2S2に含まれるCoイオンのスピン磁気モーメントの反強磁性秩序化を中性子回折にて直接観察した。

層状磁性体であるSr2Cu2(Co,Cu)O2S2の磁性を明らかにした。Sr2Cu2(Co1-xCux)O2S2, x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3はいずれも140 K以下で２次元的な反強磁性を示す。いずれの試料も80 K 以下でゼロ磁場、磁場中冷却にて磁化率の履歴依存性が生じる。また、x = 0, 0.3の試料では 10 K、75 Kでは明らかな磁化の時間緩和が観測されるが、45 Kでは観測されない。このような磁化の時間緩和の温度依存性は、磁気格子にて生じるスピン秩序の幾何学的フラストレーションに起因すると考えられる。
