Technological Innovation and Disease Control at the Epicenter of Infectious Diseases! Feasibility Study Begins for Establishing an Overseas Research Center for Infectious Disease Control in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

A study by a joint research team, led by Associate Professor Yasutoshi Kido of the Department of Parasitology, Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine, and including Senior Assistant Professor Yuki Sugiura of the Department of Biochemistry, Keio University School of Medicine, has been selected for the "Research Program on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases" (Overseas Research Unit Area) by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). The team will begin a feasibility study for establishing a research center for emerging and re-emerging infectious disease control in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, one of the world's largest epicenters of infectious diseases including malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and Ebola virus disease.
