A research group from Kochi University of Technology and Keio University has revealed for the first time a part of the mechanism of episodic memory, one of the foundations of human cognitive function, from the perspective of the temporal dynamics of brain networks.
Highlights of this research
● Analysis using fMRI and graph theory revealed that better episodic memory formation is associated with increased integration of large-scale brain networks.
● In particular, connectivity was enhanced between the subcortical, default mode, salience, and visual subnetworks and other subnetworks of the brain.
● This discovery is the world's first to elucidate part of the network mechanism of human memory and is expected to contribute to understanding the pathophysiology of memory disorders.
