The Graduate School of System Design and Management, Keio University (Keio SDM) will exhibit at Salone del Mobile (Milan Design Week 2017), the world's largest design festival, held in Milan, Italy, from Tuesday, April 4 to Sunday, April 9, 2017. This marks the third consecutive year of participation, following the SaloneSatellite in 2015 and a solo university exhibition in the Tortona district in 2016.
To address the many societal issues caused by humans and the environment, it is necessary to combine new technologies, design approaches, and processes as a system to guide the process from identifying these issues to resolving them.
Under the theme "Design Beyond Awareness," Keio SDM will exhibit solutions where information is collected and optimal suggestions are provided according to the situation, all without conscious effort.
A solo university exhibition at Superstudio, where world-class companies also exhibit, is extremely rare, and a large number of visitors are expected. Through its participation in Salone del Mobile, Keio SDM aims to raise awareness of the potential for solving societal issues through education in system design based on systems engineering.
