The Three Policies of the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in Major in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Educational and Research Objectives

In accordance with the founding spirit of this Juku, the objective is to teach and research the academic principles of pharmaceutical sciences and their applications, and to cultivate the outstanding academic knowledge and highly creative research skills required in fields related to medical care and drug discovery.

The Major in Pharmaceutical Sciences aims to develop researchers and educators who will lead the future, contribute to the development of a wide range of pharmaceutical science fields—such as drug discovery, clinical development, and environmental and life sciences—and become international leaders in these fields.

Policy on Graduation Certification and degree conferral (Diploma Policy)

Educational Goals

Based on the Policy on Graduation Certification and degree conferral (Diploma Policy) of Keio University University, the goal is to develop researchers and educators who will lead the future, possess a strong sense of ethics as scientists, lead scientific innovation in a wide range of pharmaceutical science fields—such as drug discovery, clinical development, and environmental and life sciences—and be active internationally. Additionally, a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree is conferred upon students who have fulfilled the prescribed requirements of the curriculum.

Other

A degree is conferred after a degree review committee, composed of members of the Graduate School's academic advisor, confirms, in accordance with separately stipulated thesis review criteria, that the student has acquired the abilities befitting an independent researcher and a highly specialized professional. This is demonstrated through the student's grades for prescribed credits earned based on this program's curriculum design and implementation policy, as well as through research supervision in seminars and research projects in Ph.D. program.

Policy on Curriculum Design and Implementation (Curriculum Policy)

Curriculum Design

The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical SciencesMajor in Pharmaceutical SciencesPh.D. program systematically organizes a curriculum composed of lecture courses, seminars, and research projects to cultivate the qualities and abilities outlined in the Policy on Graduation Certification and degree conferral (Diploma Policy).

Curriculum Implementation

Based on this curriculum structure, instruction is delivered through a combination of educational methods, including active learning, PBL, and fieldwork.

Assessment of Learning Outcomes

Assessment of learning outcomes for the goals for qualities and abilities to be acquired through this program's curriculum is conducted based on the assessment plan for the entire Juku. This evaluation is performed using direct indicators based on the grading criteria established for each course, as well as quantitative, qualitative, direct, and indirect indicators, including various surveys and questionnaires.
