Degrees Offered by the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

This section gives the types of degrees obtainable in the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the numbers of degrees conferred and the graduation requirements.

The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences confers the following degrees as certification that students have specialized knowledge and skills.

Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences

In the past five years, around 200 students have obtained master’s degrees and around 80 have obtained doctoral degrees.

Graduation Requirements

Major in Pharmacy (Four-year Doctoral program)

The requirements for graduation in the doctoral program are: enrollment in the graduate school for at least four years, gaining the stipulated credits as well as receiving necessary research guidance, and passing the doctoral dissertation defense and the final examination.

The stipulated credits in the doctoral program consist of 26credits in required subjects (6 credits in seminars, 16credits in research projects, 1 credit in introductory clinical research lectures and a total of 3credits in graduate school special lectures) plus at least 4credits in elective courses, totaling 30or more credits.

However, for those who have achieved outstanding research results, a period of enrollment of three years or three years andsixmonths will be sufficient.

Major in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Master’s Program)

The requirements for graduation in the master’s program are: enrollment in the graduate school for at least two years, obtaining the stipulated credits, receiving necessary research guidance and passing the master’s thesis defense and the final examination.

The stipulated credits for the master’s program consist of 23 credits in required subjects (4 credits in seminars, 16 credits in research projects, 1 credit in clinical research experience program and a total of 2 credits in graduate school special lectures) and at least 7 credits in elective courses, totaling 30 or more credits.

However, for those who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, the period of enrollment may be set at one year, provided that they have received continuous guidance from the time in the undergraduate faculty to the time of the doctoral program.
